The Authority of Scripture

Last Sunday, Matt Frost gave a talk at New River Church about the authority of Scripture. We often follow on from this at our Home Group sessions during the week.

It was great at Home Group the other night to take time together and help each other find verses from the Bible which could help us resist the devil (God is powerful...), pray out the promises that God has made to us (...He is faithful...) and to which we need to submit ourselves (...and He is Lord!).

As a group, the five us us gave testimonies about how Scripture had been powerful in our lives before. Then, with God's help and each others', we found other passages to use in prayer currently. One that was mentioned was verse 2 in Psalm 23 that says "He makes me lie down in green pastures"...

As someone who finds it difficult to stop or even slow down, this one struck me last night - I haven't taken enough leave this year and yesterday I was able to take the day off work! It was lovely to do a few things I wanted to do rather than race around doing the things that I felt obliged to do.
