Belief

If asked about the disciple John, I would have said he was all about "Love", God's love and ours. He talks about it a lot in his letters in the New Testament. I would have probably said the same about his Gospel which says things like "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." [John 3:16]

But recently something (the Holy Spirit?) got me into studying this Gospel to see what it says about belief... I'm only up to chapter 12 but it's amazing to see that every chapter so far seems to hinge on belief in Jesus and the fruits of that. In particular, each chapter so far seems to contrast belief and unbelief:

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Belief: seeing with our eyes and understanding with our hearts...

Looking forward to getting through the rest and putting something together. "Belief" has been a great key for me to engage in a new way with John's Gospel!

  1. Amazing Adam, I had a similar journey when reading John's Gospel and always refer back to it's words. Even though I have read them again and gain, they are fresh and food for my soul.
